Medicare patients living in a private residence or assisted living facility may only enroll or change Medicare Part D plans during an annual open enrollment period.
Medicare Part D Special / Continuous Enrollment Period
Medicare patients living in a skilled nursing facility are eligible for a continuous open enrollment period and may change plans any month with coverage to become effective on the first day of the next month after the change.
Medicare/Medicaid “Dual Eligible” patients are also entitled to a continuous open enrollment period and may change plans any month with coverage to become effective on the first day of the next month after the change.
